Structure Study III is a musical performance where xylophone player translates, practices, and performs a musical piece composed of dead nocturnal flying insects and burn marks on paper. I captured these insects by first applying adhesives to blank musical sheets, then using artificial lights at night to attract flying insects that are attracted to lights to be randomly stuck onto the sheets. This piece examines the invention of artificial light and its impact on nature, as well as the acceleration of modernity and the inevitable violence that comes with technological advancements.
